Research on Hypnosis Online Tele-therapy Using Skype, FaceTime or Zoom
Any hypnotherapist you talk to will tell you that in their experiences
HYPNOSIS THROUGH VIDEO TELE-CONFERENCING WORKS GREAT!
There is no difference between being in the room with a therapist and working with them online as long as you can see and hear each other!
Research on hypnotherapy through Skype, Zoom, Facetime or other tele-therapy methods is unfortunately scarce because it is such a new concept. There was not a lot of need for it up until the coronavirus scare.
However IBS patients have difficulty leaving their homes sometimes because of their symptoms. So there have been a couple of ground-breaking studies of using online hypnotherapy. Research into other kinds of tele-therapy offer us additional insights showing that online therapy in general works well.

Teletherapy-Hypnosis May Help Ease IBS Symptoms
“The results of this study found that by the study’s conclusion, significantly fewer participants reported having severe IBS symptoms. Hypnosis was also associated with statistically significant reductions in both noncolonic symptom severity and anxiety, and significant improvement in quality of life.” “… no statistically significant difference between the Skype and in-person groups with regard to improvement”
“Research into cognitive-behavioral weight loss treatments established that weight loss is greater where hypnosis is utilized. It was also established that the benefits of hypnosis increase over time.”
Hypnosis Showed Significantly Lower Post-Treatment Weights
Two studies compared overweight smoking and non-smoking adult women in an hypnosis-based, weight-loss program. Both achieved significant weight losses and decreases in Body Mass Index. Follow-up study replicated significant weight losses and declines in Body Mass Index. The overt aversion and hypnosis program yielded significantly lower post-treatment weights and a greater average number of pounds lost.

A review of studies that compared the effectiveness of internet-based therapy in general found…
A comparison between face-to-face and Internet intervention as reported on in 14 of the studies revealed no differences in effectiveness.and the findings “provide strong support for the adoption of online psychological interventions as a legitimate therapeutic activity
Hypnotherapy group with stress reduction achieved significantly more weight loss than the other two treatments.
“Randomised, controlled, parallel study of two forms of hypnotherapy (directed at stress reduction or energy intake reduction), vs dietary advice alone in 60 obese patients with obstructive sleep apnoea on nasal continuous positive airway pressure treatment.”
